How are Wake on LAN packets distributed to the thin client?
IGEL UMS sends the magic packets as UDP datagrams to port 9. In order to work for different subnets, this has to be supported by the routers involved.
Wake on LAN settings can be configured in UMS Console (version 4.05 or newer) under UMS Administration > Global Configuration > Wake on LAN Configuration. In older UMS versions the settings can be found in UMS Administrator.
UMS supports sending Wake on LAN magic packets to
- the broadcast address
- the last known IP address of the thin client
- all defined subnets (define one or more subnets)
- the network address of the last known thin client IP address (define one or more network masks to be applied)
In order to wake up thin clients in another network define a thin client there as a Wake on LAN proxy.
