Overview: First Steps with IGEL OS 11

The following article provides a short overview of how to get started with an IGEL device or a third-party device that you want to convert to IGEL OS. The steps are generally the same, but in the case of a third-party device you will need to use the IGEL OS Creator.

Step 1: Download and install the UMS

Step 2: Activate your IGEL OS 11

with the Setup Assistant (free evaluation license):

via UMS (purchased license):

Step 3: Configure your device

with the UMS:

  • Create a profile* with the required settings and assign it to the device**.

    • **IGEL Universal Management Suite > UMS Reference Manual > Profiles in the IGEL UMS > Using Profiles > How to Allocate IGEL UMS Profiles
