How to Move Devices between Product Packs in the ILP

Starting January 1, 2026, the Workspace Edition license will be replaced by the new IGEL Subscription License (ISL). This only applies to newly purchased licenses. Existing Workspace Edition licenses will remain valid. For this reason, Workspace Edition licenses (WE) and IGEL Subscription Licenses (ISL) are listed separately in the IGEL License Portal (ILP) and cannot be merged. Further information can be found here.

In the IGEL License Portal (ILP), you can transfer devices between Product Packs as long as both are still within their active license period. This article explains how to remove a device from its current Product Pack and add it to another, allowing you to reassign licenses flexibly.

Background Information

When adding devices to a Product Pack, you cannot manually select specific license slots (e.g., “use slot 18 of 20”). Licenses are always assigned sequentially - from the first available slot onward.

You can split and merge Product Packs as long as they belong to the same Subscription Key.

Example:
You have Subscription Key I-12233 with a total quantity of 50 licenses, distributed across two Product Packs:

  • WE-ALPHA: 25 licenses (20 used, 5 available)

  • WE-BRAVO: 25 licenses (25 used)

You can now:

  1. Split the 5 free licenses from WE-ALPHA into a new Product Pack.

  2. Merge the new Product Pack WE-ALPHA2 into WE-BRAVO.

After the operation:

  • WE-ALPHA: 20/20 used

  • WE-BRAVO: 25/30 used (with 5 licenses now available)

For more details on Splitting Product Packs, see How to Split an IGEL Product Pack, and on Merging Product Packs, see How to Merge IGEL Product Packs in the IGEL License Portal.
