How to Split an IGEL Product Pack
IGEL Product Packs are used to organize and manage licenses for multiple devices under a Subscription Key. In some cases, you may want to split a Product Pack to better control license usage or device assignment. Splitting a Product Pack allows you to move a defined set of devices into a new Product Pack, giving you more control over license allocation and lifecycle management.
Splitting a Product Pack will result in two Product Packs.
Splitting a Product Pack requires the IGEL License Portal (ILP); the IGEL Universal Management Suite (UMS) can not be used for this purpose.
You can only split one Product Pack at a time; bulk processing is only possible within one Product Pack.
Separating Devices for Renewal
A common use case for splitting a Product Pack arises when you intend to renew only a portion of the licensed devices it contains. Often, a single Product Pack includes both licensed devices that should be renewed and others that should not. In such cases, splitting the Product Pack allows you to isolate the devices intended for renewal from those you wish to exclude. This separation ensures precise license management and facilitates a smoother renewal process.
In this example, you will split the Product Pack to separate the devices that you do not want to renew. This allows you to renew the original Product Pack without including those licenses.
Log in to IGEL Customer Portal at https://support.igel.com/csm and open the ILP.
Your dashboard is shown.
Open Licenses from the left-hand navigation menu.
You can use the search bar to find a Product Pack directly, or browse by Subscription Key.
Select the Subscription Key to view its Product Packs.

You now have two ways to access the Split Product Pack function:
a. Click the ellipsis menu (•••) next to the Product Pack you want to split and select Split Product Pack.

b. Alternatively, click on the Product Pack to open its detail view. Then click the ellipsis menu (•••) in the upper-right corner and select Split Product Pack.

The split menu opens.
Choose how you want to split the Product Pack:
a. Use the split slider to define the number of devices to move, then click Automatically choose devices. Clicking this button selects the specified number of devices (as set with the slider) from the top of the list.

Devices are shown in order of their last update. The most recently updated devices appear first. If several devices share the same update timestamp, they are then sorted alphabetically.
This is the fastest option for large Product Packs.
b. Alternatively, choose devices by:
→ Uploading a .csv file that contains the MAC addresses of the devices. For more information on the required CSV file format, see Working with CSV Files in the IGEL License Portal.
OR
→ Manually selecting individual devices using the left and right panels: Select the devices you want to move and click the > or < arrow in the middle.

The selected devices appear in the right panel under Devices to move.
You can export a list of all devices using the Export device list button in the lower-right corner, for review or manipulation.
When the selection is complete, click the Confirm button on the right lower corner.
The action is now completed.
The newly split Product Packs are now shown in the Subscription Key detail view:
a. One with the remaining devices.
b. One with the moved devices.

If you are using Automatic License Deployment (ALD): To check the results, open your UMS Console, go to UMS Administration > Global Configuration > Licenses > Deployment and click the refresh button
.
After refreshing, the new Product Pack will only appear if Auto Assign is enabled for that UMS ID. Devices moved during the split will then be listed under the new Product Pack.
Because this example focuses on renewing only part of the Product Pack, proceed with Renewing a Maintenance / Subscription in the IGEL License Portal (ILP), section "Partial Renewal - Renewing Only Some Product Packs".
