When you start your UD Pocket Demo for the first time, the IGEL Setup Assistant will help you obtain a free evaluation license. The evaluation license will be valid for 90 days.

Requirements:

  • Network connection
  • Device, e.g. a notebook, which is compatible with UD Pocket. For details, see Devices Supported by UDC3 and UD Pocket.
  • Device is set to boot from a USB flash drive. For further information, see Boot settings.
  • UD Pocket is not configured yet, and has not been registered with the UMS.

To get your evaluation license:

  1. Start the device with your UD Pocket Demo plugged in.
The setup assistant starts. For details about all configuration steps except licensing, see the manual chapter Using the “Setup Assistant” function.

If the IGEL Setup Assistant does not start, this means that your UD Pocket has been configured or registered already. If this is the case, and you have a Delivery Token, consider Manual License Deployment (UD Pocket).
  2. At the step Activate your UD Pocket, make a choice if asked, and fill in every field to receive a 90 days evaluation license.

Proxy configuration (available as of IGEL OS 10.05.100)

If you get an error message at this stage of the wizard, you may need to configure a proxy. Click Proxy configuration to get to the configuration dialog.
For a description of the possible proxy settings, see Using the “Setup Assistant” function.

  3. Check I agree to the terms + conditions and privacy policy.
  4. Click ACTIVATE YOUR UD POCKET.
When the license has been fetched, a confirmation is shown. Additionally, an e-mail with is sent to the address you have provided beforehand. The e-mail contains links for downloading and installing the Universal Management Suite (UMS).
  5. Click Next.
  6. Continue with the configuration.
  7. When you have finished the configuration, click Restart.
After restart, your UD Pocket is fully functional for a period of 90 days.
