Upgrade and Downgrade Limit on IGEL OS 11.10.410 or Higher

The shim bootloader signature used in IGEL OS 12.6.1 PR1 or lower and in OS 11 releases lower than 11.10.410 could potentially be revoked.

If the older shim bootloader signature is revoked and Secure Boot is enabled, the device may become unbootable.

Upgrade and downgrade limits are introduced to prevent unbootable systems and ensure a consistent user experience.

Verify boot compatibility before upgrading or downgrading.

Upgrade Limit

Starting from IGEL OS 11.10.410, IGEL OS 11 devices can no longer be upgraded (migrated) to IGEL OS 12 versions lower than 12.7.0. This restriction applies to IGEL UD Pocket devices and endpoints with Secure Boot enabled (see Verifying that Secure Boot is Enabled).

In such cases, migration attempts to versions prior to 12.7.0 will be refused to maintain system integrity and boot security.

Downgrade Limit

Starting from IGEL OS 11.10.410, the IGEL OS 11 can no longer be downgraded to versions lower than 11.10.410. This restriction applies to IGEL UD Pocket devices and endpoints with Secure Boot enabled (see Verifying that Secure Boot is Enabled).

In such cases, downgrade attempts to versions prior to 11.10.410 will be refused to maintain system integrity and boot security.
