Permission management in the IGEL Universal Management Suite (UMS) Web App allows administrators to define and control user roles, access rights, and management functions. This article explains the different types of permissions - global, object-based, and administrative - and provides step-by-step guidance on configuring secure, role-based access within the UMS Web App.
The permissions of a user in the IGEL UMS are the result of:
-
Global permissions which can be granted /denied through permissions to a user directly, or indirectly through group membership, see How to Manage Global Permissions in the IGEL UMS Web App.
-
Object permissions, see How to Manage Object Permissions in the IGEL UMS Web App.
-
Administrative permissions for management features in the UMS Web App and the respective UMS Administration nodes in the UMS Console, see How to Manage Administrative Permissions in the IGEL UMS Web App.
Since the same permission settings are used for individual administrators and groups, the description of the configuration of right applies equally to administrators and groups.
Any changes made in the IGEL UMS Web App are synced directly to the UMS Console and vice versa. In case you want to manage permissions in the UMS Console, see Effective Rights in IGEL UMS.
